What's Dr. Nancy Davidson's goal? To get rid of cancer for good. In the meantime, she's working toward offering the most effective cancer treatments at John Hopkins University School of Medicine. Over the past 15 years, she's seen mortality rates drop thanks to early diagnosis, anti-hormone therapies, and regular mammograms.

Illness exists for a reason

Kelly was in the bathtub with her two daughters, ages 1 and 2, when she noticed something wasn't right. In the span of five days, she found a lump, had a biopsy, and learned she had stage 3 breast cancer. Undergoing treatment has been the biggest challenge of Kelly's life so far, and receiving lots of tenderness and support helped her along the way.

Taking aggressive action

Last September, Blanche finished her chemo and radiation treatments and thought she was in the clear. The following January, she learned that the breast cancer was back. Blanche battled back by undergoing a double mastectomy. Today, she feels like she can conquer the world. "I'm healthy, I'm alive, and I'm kicking butt."
